Central High School Literary Team Finishes Third at State Competition

Central High School’s Literary Team competed in the Class AAA state Literary meet at Veterans High School in Kathleen, Georgia this past weekend. The team placed 3rd in the state with a total of 22 points, which was only two (2) points away from the state runner up title. The following students received awards for their literary works.

The boys’ quartet of Will Godbee, Joshawa Arnell, Elijah Green, and Caleb Williams earned a 5th place finish. Brant Entrekin placed 5th in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking. Carolina Butler earned a 2nd place award in Narrative Essay. Amelia Farmer received a 2nd place award for Rhetorical Essay and Anya Dunn placed 2nd in Persuasive Essay. Daniel Moye was crowned the state champion in Dramatic Interpretation earning a perfect score from one of the judges. “Our students demonstrated their talents and represented Central High in tremendous fashion this past weekend,” said Principal Mr. Jared Griffis. “I am extremely proud of all of their efforts, the coaches, and our individual State Champion, Daniel Moye.” Central High School English teacher Mr. Jamie Biddle and chorus teacher Ms. Sydney Sewell are the Literary Team coaches.
