Ithica Elementary Hosts Literary Night

Ithica Elementary hosted Literacy night on Monday, February 22, 2016. There were a variety of fun activities for students and parents to enjoy including storytelling, #hashtag photo room, make and takes, reading websites and apps, instructional sessions, book giveaways, wax museum, and the book fair. Students had the opportunity to make bookmarks, story starter cubes, and fortune tellers. The computer labs were busy with students working on reading websites and creating “quizlets” to help improve vocabulary skills. The storyteller room caught the interest of many students who enjoyed listening to a story and expressing their understanding through art. Third grade students presented a living wax museum by dressing up as historical figures they have learned about in class. The historical figures came to life and presented facts about themselves when their “buttons” were pushed. It was a fantastic night for parents and students to be able to learn together while having fun.
