Bay Springs Middle School Boy’s Basketball Team Wins County Championship

Congratulations to Bay Springs Middle School’s Boy’s Basketball Team who won the Carroll County Championship by defeating Carrollton on Friday with a score of 30 to 28. The showdown was hosted by Villa Rica Middle School.

Battling back and forth, the teams were close defensively. Working together throughout most of the game was Quavien James, Phillip Zachery, Chris Mann, Alex McCoy, and Jacarius Bailey. They played an aggressive game in order to deny Carrollton points.

Offensively, Phillip Zachery led the team in scoring 18 points. Quavien James scored 10 points followed by Alex McCoy scoring 2 points.

Eighth graders, Phillip Zachery and Quavien James have played basketball for the team since their 6 th grade year. In those three years, two championships were won and they claimed one runnerup spot. Also, eighth grader, Jaiquavious Ackey has played since his 7 th grade year.
