Central Elementary Students Win HAARG MLK Essay Contest

Five of Central Elementary's fifth grade students were chosen as winners of the HAARG MLK 5th annual essay contest. Students were given the topic "What Martin Luther King, Jr. Means to Me". Overall winner, Natalie Anderson, received $50, a framed certificate, and will be featured in print and online in association with Hormel Communications. Runners up, including Karley Fuller, Ellie Knott, Laney Duffey, and Travis Sommers. They received $10 gift cards and certificates.

The goals of the annual event are to (1) promote Martin Luther King's legacy, (2) encourage young students to aim high and give them exposure to minority professionals in corporate America, and (3) create a lasting partnership between Hormel Foods and local schools for future mentoring and support opportunities.
