Math is a vital component of academic achievement for students, and math competency is beneficial far beyond the school environment. On Thursday, January 14, 2016, Sharp Creek Elementary School hosted their annual Math with Your Child Day as a parental involvement event. There were 39 parents in attendance. Teachers from Pre-K through 5 th grade taught engaging lessons based on math skills. These lessons gave insight to parents about many different activities they could use at home to help their child advance their math understanding.

There were many outstanding comments made from parents as they prepared to leave the event. Comments included, “I really love how the teachers use clue words in solving math word problems,” “I had a great time and surely will use some of the skills that I learned at home,” and “Sharp Creek has great teachers.” Math with Your Child Day at Sharp Creek Elementary was a great success.
