Bay Springs Middle School Participates in West Georgia Regional Technology Fair

Bay Springs Middle School recently participated in the West Georgia Regional Technology Fair. Three participating students received awards: Sidney Scruggs won 1st place in 7th-8th grade multimedia, Brooke Yearta won 2nd place in 7th-8th grade internet applications, and Trista Lawler won 3rd place in 7th-8th grade multimedia.

The West Georgia Technology Fair is an annual technology competition for students in the West Georgia Region of the state of Georgia. The West Georgia region includes students who attend public schools, private schools, and home­schools in Carroll County, Carrollton City, Coweta County, Fayette County, Griffin­Spalding County, Harris County, Heard County, Meriwether County, and Troup County.

Students competed in the following categories: 3D Modeling, Animation, Audio Production, Device Modification, Digital Photo Production, Game Design, Graphic Design, Internet Applications, Mobile Apps, Multimedia Applications, Non­Multimedia Applications, Project Programming, Robotics, Tech Literacy Challenge, Tech Programming Challenge, and Video Production.

Sidney Scruggs created a series of basic codes to make characters on a phone application. Brooke Yearta created a blog about how to hack her life. Trista Lawler created a Powerpoint on the game Minecraft.

Sidney Scruggs will move on to the state level of competition where 500+ first place winners from 19 different recognized regional technology fairs across the state will compete on March 5, 2016 in 16 different categories.
