Central Middle School Competition Cheerleaders Participate in Community Service Project

The Central Middle Competition cheerleaders completed a community service on October 21 by donating needed supplies to the THS Emergency Shelter. Upon contacting the local homeless shelter to see what type of volunteer opportunities they offered, the shelter representatives let the team know that they were in great need of men's socks for the winter months. Over the next several weeks, the competition cheerleaders collected new socks from family members, local churches, and the community. The cheerleaders brought in 424 pair of socks ?to donate to the shelter. This is 188 more pair than was collected during the sock drive last year. Shelter representative, Trudy McDowell, visited a practice to collect the socks and talked to the girls about the importance of community service. Kate Denney ?won the community service award by raising the most socks for this drive. She brought in 104 pairs of socks. This marks two consecutive years of community service for Kate as she was the runner up in the sock drive last year.
