Mt. Zion Elementary Leadership Academy Education Day

Students in the Mount Zion Elementary Leadership Academy participated in their final academy lesson by learning about the Carroll County School System. The day began with a tour of the Carroll County Board of Education where students learned about education policy and the ins and outs of running schools in one of the largest counties in the state. Students participated in a question and answer session with Mr. Cowart at the conclusion of the tour. Students then continued with a tour of the College and Career Academy by the director, Cindy Clanton, where they learned about programs and career paths that were available to them in the future as Carroll County students. The day concluded with a stop at 12 for Life. Ms. Elena Schulenburg and current students toured the group around the classrooms and work area where students learned how high school students are bettering their lives by combining traditional classroom instruction with jobs inside a real manufacturing plant. The Mount Zion Elementary Leadership Academy consisted of six “on the site” training days funded through a grant from the Georgia Teachers of the Year Organization.
