The Carroll County School System welcomes Mrs. Tonya Jiles as the new Director of Exceptional Children’s Services. Mrs. Jiles comes to Carroll County from Carrollton City Schools where she has served as an Assistant Principal at Carrollton Elementary for four years. Prior to that, Mrs. Jiles worked for Carroll County Schools where she last served as a speech therapist and special education instructional facilitator. Having served as an educational leader in both general education and special education, Mrs. Jiles brings with her valuable experience and expertise.

Ms. Jiles began her career with Carroll County Schools over twenty-five years ago as a paraprofessional. Since that time she has moved through various school system positions, has worked at all grade levels and has coordinated a variety of school based programs. Superintendent, Scott Cowart, stated that Mrs. Jiles brings a wealth of district and school based experience to the position of Director of Exceptional Children’s Services. She will be a valuable support to everyone in our district.

Ms. Jiles is excited about the opportunity to return to Carroll County Schools stating, “My goal while serving as Director of Exceptional Children Services will be to ensure all students attain academic, social and emotional success while attending a premier learning environment so they will aspire to be life-long learners.”

Mrs. Jiles is a graduate of the University of West Georgia where she earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Speech-Language Pathology and from Jacksonville State University, where she received her certification in Educational Administration. Mrs. Jiles is married to Steve Jiles and they have three children, Ashley, Tyler and Alison.
