Temple Elementary has entered into a partnership with HealthMPowers to promote healthy eating and physical activity. Through this partnership HealthMPowers will provide the school with materials, such as videos, workbooks, and activity kits, for the teachers to use with students, along with newsletters and informational pamphlets to be sent home to parents. The staff is incorporating moments of physical activity throughout the day beyond normal recess time and physical education class. The school held a workshop for Parents titled “Empowering Healthy Choices in the School and at Home”. Parents attended while the school provided free childcare and free dinner. Also, HealthMPowers brought their Nutritional Nook to the school and showed presentations to the students during lunch to help educate students on making better choices.
