Ithica Elementary Students Won 1st Place at Science Olympiad

Students at Ithica Elementary School participated in the regional Science Olympiad Competition Saturday, February 28 th . Science Olympiad is a science competition comprised of 18 events that tests the ability of students to work together and think on their feet in different science and math related scenarios.

Alex Kinard and Christopher Phillips took first place in the Bridge Building event. They had 45 minutes to create the longest bridge possible using only 50 straws and 1 meter of tape. The bridge had to hold a mass of 112 grams. Alex and Christopher were able to make a bridge that was over 4 feet long.
