Central High School's Weightlifting Team Makes History

The Central High School weightlifting Team brought home a 3rd place trophy from the AAA state competition weightlifting competition. In individual competition, Kirey Thompson took 1st place in the 206-225 weight class and Max Whitlock placed 3rd in that same class. Trace Musick won first place in the 191-205 weight class and Gabe Wiggins was the runner up in that class. Mitt Conerly placed 3rd in the 181-190 weight class, Jayleen Terry placed 3rd in the 226-245 weight class, and Tyler King placed 5th in the 161-170 weight class. “We are extremely proud of our team, especially since this was our first attempt in a formal weightlifting competition,” said Principal Mr. Jared Griffis.

Central High School organized a weightlifting team earlier this school year. Coach Charrod Taylor heads up the team with the help of Coach Jason Dothard. “Several of the students in our weightlifting classes expressed an interest in competing, so it made sense to organize an official team,” stated Coach Taylor.
