Glanton-Hindsman Elementary National Beta Society Members

Glanton-Hindsman Elementary is proud to introduce the newest members of the GHES National Beta Society. Historically, the National Beta Club is an academic honors program with a strong emphasis on community service. Members of this organization excel in academics, character and leadership. The organization’s motto is “Let Us Lead by Serving Others.” The National Junior Beta Club is open to students in grades 5 through 9. Thirty-seven students from the Glanton-Hindsman Elementary fifth grade class were officially inducted on February 10, 2015 as national members of this prestigious organization.

New officers were also installed at the induction ceremony. The newly elected president, Ian Wilkinson, shared his duties and responsibilities as president during the ceremony. He shared the meaning of lighting the white candle by saying: “White denotes light, purity and faith. As president of the Jr. Beta Club, I will endeavor to hold high this light. It is with humility, joy, and pride that I undertake this task and accept this responsibility. The newly elected vice president, Rain Holland, Secretary Baileigh Murphy, and Treasurer Joshua Yarbrough also lit symbolic candles during the induction ceremony.

Teachers Carla Tullis and Mrs. Dina Johnson sponsor the Glanton-Hindsman Beta Club. Fifth grade students with a grade point average of 3.5 (receiving only A’s and B’s in the 2013-14 school year and the first nine weeks of the 2014-15 school year), who also exemplify strong character, and have maintained role model behavior throughout the previous and present school year are eligible for membership.
