Villa Rica High School Student Signs Letter of Intent with University of South Carolina

Donye Monroe signs her Letter of Intent to continue her athletic career with the University of South Carolina-Upstate. Donye's soccer career started at the age of 5 with the Villa Rica Recreation Department and she continued to play recreation soccer until she joined the West Georgia United Football Club at the age of 11. West Georgia merged and later became Southern Soccer Academy and over the next five years, Donye's team improved from a level C club to a Nationally Ranked team. As an SSA athlete, her U16/U17 team won back-to-back State Cup Championships in 2012 and 2013 and State Cup Runner-up in 2014. While at Villa Rica High School, Monroe lettered all three years while also receiving Offensive Player of the year her freshman and sophomore years. During her freshman and sophomore years she was also named to the All-Region Team. Donye's athleticism was also displayed on the hardcourt as she lettered in basketball her junior year. While at USC-Upstate, Donye plans to major in Exercise and Sports Science.
