Bowdon Middle School Students Participate in UGA MidFest Honor Bands

Six Bowdon Middle School students participated in the UGA MidFest Honor Bands in Athens, GA. Students were selected based on musical merit from a nomination pool that included middle schools from all over the state of Georgia. Upon arrival students auditioned for placement in one of seven honor bands. Students also had the opportunity to participate in masterclasses on their specific instrument presented by the Hugh Hodgson School of Music Friday morning. This was a great learning experience for the students. These students worked hard for two days and put on wonderful concerts at the the Performing Arts Center on the University of Georgia Campus on Saturday afternoon.

Mackie Edwards played clarinet in the Lloyd McDonald honor band. Logan Lee played percussion in the William Kilgore honor band. Lindsay Foster played baritone saxophone and sat first chair in the Tracy Wright honor band. Christina Ray, Kendall Jones, and Rileigh Daniel, (horn, horn, and alto saxophone, respectively) all played in the Scott Corley honor band.
