21 Carroll County Teachers Awarded Bright Ideas Grants

21 Carroll County Teachers have been awarded 2014 Carroll EMC Bright Ideas Grants totaling $17,878. The Bright Ideas program is funded by the generosity of Carroll EMC members who elect to "round up" their electric bills each month through the Operation Round Up program. Carroll EMC Foundation trustees are the stewards of the funds.

This year Carroll EMC received 176 grants. Trustees read and scored each grant without any knowledge of the teacher making application or what school/school system they are from. If a teacher revealed any identifying information, the grant was disqualified. After a month of reading and scoring the grants, the top 61 grants for a total of $ 52,815 were approved for funding. Carroll County schools racked up 21 awards for a grand total of $17,878. The grant recipients were:
