Villa Rica Middle School FBLA Wins at Fall Leadership Conference

The Villa Rica Middle School Chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) placed first in Georgia in the Find It! Bulletin Board Design Contest. FBLA Chapters were encouraged to develop a bulletin board that was to be used to demonstrate members discovering their passion in FBLA and their future career choices. The bulletin board had to display the members’ passions and how they align to their career choices. The theme of the bulletin board was “Discover Your Passion.” Bulletin boards were rated based on (a) following directions and using the FBLA theme; (b) usability of the bulletin board; (c) design and technical features; (d) layout; (e) career focus; and (f) overall effort. To create the bulletin board, students in Business and Computer Science classes at VRMS researched various careers. Students then chose a career they were interested in and designed a flyer advertising the career. Students also created pictures depicting themselves in that career.

The winners of other FBLA contests were also announced at the November 18 FBLA Fall Leadership Conference in Athens, Georgia. In addition to receiving a certificate, the chapter won free registration for two members to compete at the Region Leadership Conference. VRMS FBLA members attending the Fall Leadership Conference include Taylor Haney, Donald Howard, Takyra Johnson, Ben Moffit, Jillian Moore, Tobi Okegbenro, Christopher Powell, Macie Shrewsberry, and Grace Weldon. Mrs. Tanya Morgan is their FBLA Adviser.
