Villa Rica Middle School Teachers Visit the State Capitol

Three Villa Rica Middle School Georgia Studies teachers, Donald Clark, Brian Szwec, and James Davidson participated in a Georgia Studies workshop at the State Capitol on September 17th for Constitution Day. Partnering with the Georgia DOE, Georgia Humanities Council, and various Georgia agencies, the Georgia Center for Civic Engagement facilitated a government workshop. The mini- workshops focused on the following: discussion of all six government standards, hearing from elected and appointed officials, introduction to additional resources like the CivicsLabs® (that will help them teach Georgia government to their students), and learning about co-curricular programs to support their in-class lessons. The teachers look forward to sharing their resources in their professional learning social studies community and using the materials to engage their Georgia Studies students.
