Carroll County Schools Hosts ESOL Overview Meeting

The Carroll County Schools ESOL Department hosted an ESOL Overview meet and greet on August 28, 2014. Parents, students, teachers, and school administrators had an opportunity to discuss pertinent information regarding the ESOL program and educational topics relative to student achievement and graduation. Some of the topics discussed included: ESOL Qualifications and Services, Infinite Campus, CCGPS, Graduation Requirements, Georgia Milestones, Student Attendance, and Parental Involvement. Parents were informed of upcoming parent involvement opportunities and were provided ways that they could become more involved in their child's school.

Math Night--September 25, 2014--5:30 p.m. at the Carroll County Board of Education
Testing Night--January 29, 2015--5:30 p.m. at the Carroll County Board of Education
Literacy Night--February 26, 2015--5:30 p.m. at Central Middle School

Parent participation showed a marked increase for this years event. Dr. Karen Strickland, Director of federal programs, said. “We tripled the number and they were very responsive to our intentions to reach out and provide them with support. It was a great night and I look forward to our Instructional Coaches coming in September to work with our ESOL parents and students again in the area of Math which is one of our system initiatives.”
