Bowdon Elementary School Ribbon Cutting

On Tuesday, September 2, 2014, Bowdon Elementary held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of its new construction project. The project included a new gym and a new third grade wing consisting of 6 classrooms.

Dignitaries attending included Superintendent of Carroll County Schools Mr. Scott Cowart, Carroll County Board of Education Members Bart Cater and Sandra Morris, Carroll County Schools Assistant Superintendent David Goldberg, Carroll County Schools Construction Manager Mike Beers, Mayor of Bowdon Keith Crawford, Bowdon City Council members Jan Johnson, Jim Chaffin, and Wes McIntyre, Bowdon Historical Society member Judy Rowell, Bowdon Middle and High Principals Scott Estes, Samantha Green(assistant principal) and Travis Thomas and Georgia State Senator Mike Dugan.

The ceremony opened with third, fourth and fifth grade students cutting the ribbon to enter the new gymnasium. As the ceremony moved inside students from BES gifted program presented a skit on the history of Bowdon Elementary. Additionally several students presented their thoughts on why Bowdon Elementary is a great place to learn. Music and songs were provided throughout the program by students under the direction of Mrs. Allison Chambers. The program ended with Mrs. Teal leading all students present at the ceremony in the school’s mission statement: As ONE BOWDON, our mission is to educate with PRIDE, the head, heart, and hands for today and tomorrow.
