Brad Corbett was named the new Principal of Ithica Elementary School at the May 28, 2014, Carroll County Board of Education called board meeting. Mr. Corbett will be replacing Mrs. Karen Wild who is leaving for a position outside the district.

Mr. Corbett began his career in education with the Fulton County School System in 2002. He worked as a 3rd grade teacher at Campbell Elementary School and Evoline C. West Elementary School. In 2007, Mr. Corbett moved to the Douglas County School System where he worked as a 4th grade teacher at Winston Elementary School. He then served Bright Star Elementary School as assistant principal in 2010 and in 2012, moved to Sweetwater Elementary School as assistant principal. He joined the Carroll County School System in 2013 as an assistant principal at Central High School.

Mr. Corbett’s educational credentials include his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Indiana University and a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of West Georgia. In 2012, he received his Specialist of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of West Georgia.

"I am very excited to be joining the Ithica Elementary School family,” Mr. Corbett said. “As a family, we will continue the tradition of excellence that is Ithica. As a community, we will work together to educate the whole child so that each student can reach their fullest potential. I am looking forward to being a part of the Villa Rica cluster of schools and working with all of its stakeholders. We are VR."

Superintendent Scott Cowart shared that Mr. Corbett’s experience at the elementary level and passion of excellence made him an obvious choice for the principalship at Ithica. “Mr. Corbett knows how to lead people and is focused on the success of every student. Additionally, Mr. Corbett knows and wants to be at Ithica and in the Villa Rica community. He will be an asset for Ithica Elementary and the entire school district.”

Mr. Corbett and his wife, Bridget, have two children, Nathan (6) and Andrew (4).
