On May 20th, 2014, GlantonHindsman Elementary held an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony in honor of its recently completed renovation and construction project. The project included a new gym, renovated front entrance, school sign, reception area, new ceilings, connecting hallways, and enhancedsecurity doors.

Dignitaries including Superintendent of Carroll County Schools Mr. Scott Cowart, Mayor of Villa Rica Mr. Jay Collins, Carroll County Board of Education Members, GHE School Council, GHE PTO Officers, and CommunityStakeholders were on hand to celebrate the ribbon cutting ceremony.

In her opening remarks, Principal Beth Chandler expressed thanks to the taxpayers of Carroll County for their collective support of education through SPLOST funding for this and other construction projects across the school district. Students Micah Gardner and Brian Grace introduced guest speakers Mr. Scott Cowart and Mr. Rob Cleveland, respectively. Mr. Cowart remarked that the project would benefit the community, stakeholders, and parents, but most of all it would benefit the students and faculty who work and learn in the building. Essays on student responses to the construction were written and presented by Alexis Williams, President of Student Council and Rain Holland, Secretary of Student Council. After the school choir sang, student Christopher Warrick offered closing remarks, including an invitation to tour the newly renovated facility. First Year Teacher at GlantonHindsman Elementary, Emily Duncan, summed up the evening celebration by saying, “As a student of this school in the early 90’s, I feel the school has come a long way from what it was in previous years. Being a born and raised citizen of Villa Rica and a 2007 Villa Rica High School graduate, I’ve seen this community grow by leaps and bounds, and I’m proud to say I ‘bleed purple and gold.’ I am thrilled to be a teacher at GlantonHindsman celebrating these improvements, and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for both our school and the community.”
