Villa Rica Middle School Sweeps the 7th Grade DAR Essay Contest

Four Villa Rica Middle School 7th and 8th grade students recently won the school level Abraham Baldwin Chapter-Daughters of the American Revolution Essay Contest. This year’s topic was: “Pretend you are a boy or girl during the colonial fight for freedom. Using historical facts, discuss how the war is affecting your life.” The applicants included all Carroll County Middle Schools. The 7th grade chapter-level winners were: Madison Bailey, Austin Fletcher, and Tanner Thomason. The 8th grade chapter-level winner was: Chelsea Shead.

On March 8, 2014, all chapter-level winners competed in the West Georgia Region Competition. The West Georgia Region includes Carroll County Schools, Carrollton City Schools and surrounding private schools. Villa Rica Middle School Students won the 7th grade awards:

1st pl. - Madison Bailey

2nd pl. - Tanner Thomason

3rd pl. - Austin Fletcher certificate

The sponsoring teachers were Mr. Brian Szwec and Mr. James Davidson.
