Mount Zion High School Students Win DAR Recognition

The Carroll County Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution recently named this year’s DAR Good Citizens. Derek Jeffers was nominated to represent Mount Zion High School and write an essay for the competition. Derek’s essay was the winner of the competition and he will now go on to compete at the Regional Level. Brittany Blanchard also received a DAR award for having the highest average in U.S. history!


The DAR Good Citizens program encourages and rewards the qualities of good citizenship among high school seniors. The qualities are: dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. DAR is a women’s service organization with the following objectives: promotion of education, historic preservation and patriotism.
