On Thursday, November 7, 2013, Sand Hill Elementary School celebrated its recent campus construction and facilities renovations with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Superintendent Scott Cowart spoke to the large crowd, offering his thanks to the community for their support of SPLOST and noting how all students in Carroll County are benefitting from that support. Cowart also commented the SHES project was the largest one of this SPLOST plan. He recognized the many retired educators that had come to support the Ribbon Cutting, “Sand Hill has always been an important part of Carroll County Schools and with the new campus it will continue to be one in the future.”

Sand Hill Elementary School Principal, Carla Meigs, also addressed the crowd and thanked them for coming out to help the school celebrate the event. Meigs also thanked the school board and district leadership for their vision in making Carroll County Schools. She also expressed her appreciation to J&R Construction and Southern A&E for their hard work and cooperation on the campus projects. Meigs commented that “ Sand Hill is a wonderful school, we are excited about our new campus and the opportunities our students have to learn and grow in a state of the art facility.”

The Ribbon Cutting portion of the ceremony took place in the lobby of the newly construction atrium at Sand Hill. Included in the photograph are administrative members of the Villa Rica Cluster and Carroll County Board Members. Holding the ribbon are SHES Student Council Members Brady Smallwood, Chaz Chambliss, Jerrick White, Mary Armstrong, and WSHE Newscrew members Emily Phillips and Caitlin Hall, while Carroll County School Board Members Chris Gammon and Rob Cleveland cut through the ribbon to celebrate and officially announce the campus improvements at Sand Hill Elementary School.
