Carroll County Schools 2015 Teacher of the Year

Ginny Edwards, of Mt. Zion Elementary School Teacher, was named Carroll County School System Teacher of the Year at the Thursday, October 24, 2013 Board Meeting. Ms. Edwards has been with the Carroll County School System for 13 years and has been teaching in public schools for over 25 years. Ms. Edwards received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 2000 from Auburn University, her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership in 2005 from the University of West Georgia, and her Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction in 2011 from Lincoln Memorial University. Prior to coming to Carroll County, she taught in Calhoun County School System in Alabama. Mrs. Edward’s system Teacher of the Year application will now be sent to the State Department of Education where she will compete for the 2015 Georgia Teacher of the Year Award. The state winner will be selected next spring.


Venus Swatek, of Central Middle School was named first runner-up and Heather Mills, of Bowdon
High School was named second runner-up for Teacher of the Year.


Superintendent Scott K. Cowart said, “We are proud of all our Teachers of the Year. These educators are excellent role models, not only for our students but for our staff as well. Their continual quest for excellence enables our students to learn in the best academic environment possible.”
