Carroll County Schools Safety Summit

Carroll County Schools held its first Annual Safety Summit meeting today at the Carroll County Agriculture-Education Center, 900 Newnan Road, Carrollton, Ga. 30117. The Carroll County Safety Summit was sponsored by Carroll County Sheriff Terry Langley. Opening remarks were made from Superintendent Scott K. Cowart, Sheriff Terry Langley, and Carroll County Commissioner Chairman Marty Smith.

The event brought together the safety teams from the Carroll County Schools’ Elementary, Middle and High Schools with first responders from the county and state level for school safety training. The training included an active shooter table-top activity conducted by Cynthia Daley (School System and County Attorney), Major Craig Dotson (CCSO), Tim Padgett (CCSO), and David Goldberg (School System Assistant Superintendent). School safety teams collaborated with first responders from their municipalities and jurisdictions to build relationships and solidify emergency operation plans for the schools. First responders that attended were: Carroll County Sheriff’s office, Carroll County Emergency Management, Carroll County E911, Carroll County Fire Rescue, Tanner Medical Center, West Georgia Ambulance, GEMA, GA State Patrol, Bowdon Police, Carrollton Police, Carrollton Fire, Mount Zion Police, Temple Police, Villa Rica Police, and Whitesburg Police.
